What to Expect at the Jamboree
By Eric Albrecht, NBA Co-Chairman
As I sit here writing this, it is hard for me to fathom that The NBA Jamboree is almost here! It has become an event that my entire family looks forward to every year. From seeing and spending time with good friends to relaxing in the river and of course shooting the incredible archery 3D ranges that are set up throughout the Halsey national forest, it is a high-lighted week on our calendar year in and year out.
For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Eric Albrecht, I am a lifelong member of the NBA and, along with my friend Nate Nelson, we have signed on to be the new Jamboree Co-Chairmen. Me and my beautiful wife, Amber, have three boys and live on a farm outside Kearney. I have bowhunted my entire life and have been a member of this great organization since I was a kid. Amber and I have helped in various roles within the NBA throughout the years and have enjoyed giving back to this great club. My wife is now the newsletter editor and Nate and I are in charge of Halsey.
I tell you all that to say it is an honor to help make this event run and some- thing myself (and Nate) care about deeply. And although the previous leadership did a great job and deserves so much praise, we hope to make this year's Jamboree the best one yet! We wanted to write up an article explaining exactly what the Jamboree is in detail (for those who have never been there) and how it truly is unrivaled as a top of the line 3D archery event.
- AN OVERVIEW -
We will have a registration table set up from Thursday through Saturday at the main picnic area. Please stop in when you arrive at the forest and sign in. Our volun- teers will be happy to help you get signed in, hand you your registration button, and answer any questions you may have. The registration cost is $20 for an individual or $35 for a family. The registration cost covers the unlimited shooting at the 3D Ranges. It also includes the Saturday evening BBQ din- ner and Kid's activities. It does NOT include membership dues, camping, novelty shoot costs, or any activities paid to the forest (tube rental, zipline, waterslide, etc.) If you want to register early, pre-registration is available on our web- site as an option for those who wish to spend less time at the registration table. If you pre-register online, you will still need to stop at the registration table to check-in and grab your buttons, but it will go much quicker if you pre-register. You can also pre-order your 2021 Jamboree T-Shirts during registration online and pick them up when you check in at the event! A lim- ited supply of Jamboree T-Shirts will still be available at the Jamboree at the Merchandise table.
This is a MEMBERS ONLY event. If you are not a current NBA Member or your membership has expired, you need to join or renew. You can do that on our website or at the Jamboree Registration table. It is easy to join and the cost is only $20 for a membership, individual or your entire family, just twenty bucks!
During the event, we will have four amazing 3D archery ranges set up throughout the hills of the forest, plus two kid’s ranges and a practice range. There is unlimited shooting (yes, unlimited!) at the ranges from sun up to sunset Thursday through Saturday. And sun up to 9 a.m. Sunday. On top of that, we will have com- petition shoots Friday and Saturday. At these novelty shoots, you can test your skills and compete against other skilled archers for your chance at winning a medal at our Saturday night awards bbq.
When you want to rest your arms from all that unlimited shooting, there are a variety of things to do throughout the forest. Hiking trails, the lookout tower, and a fishing pond are some of our favorite attractions. There is poison ivy throughout the forest, so you may want to brush up on your plant ID skills.
Located in the heart of the forest is the middle Loup river which offers atten- dees a great area to go cool off in the heat of the day. You will find a lot of NBA members down in the river enjoying the water, good conversation, and an ice-cold beverage. Personally, my kids love going to the river and spending the afternoons swimming around or tubing.
Speaking of kids, we want to be sure that one of the main areas we focus on for this event is the kids. We want the future generation of Bowhunters to look forward to this event as much as we do, so there are various kids activities throughout the event.
